kind of weird considering that the US already has plenty of pinpoint anti tank missiles, it has no real use for cluster bombs anymore.

the most lykly reason is defenc industry pressure so that they can finish producing existing technolagy, the compony wants to make use of technolagy it has spent money to develop.

That is disgusting. Fucking war profiteers. The worst part, though, isn't simply that they are being built, but that Textron wants to rewrite the pending Oslo treaty just so they can make a fucking profit off of these fucking weapons.

This makes me sick.

Hm, interesting.

It's true, one should not try to do the same job with more powerful, but less accurate weapons, which is what we have now. Unfortunately, as the article says, and as is true, tima and time again the predictions of what these weapons will do is always somewhat.... overestimated. They're rarely as accurate as the simulations, and 99 percent of the bomblets detonating? Yeah, I doubt that, somewhat. I agree, we need better tech with our weapons if we are to actually require them.However, I really wish they would be more honest in the capabilities of these things.

However, one must also consider that without those 40 bomblets, a nation will have to use more of the conventioanl types.
