| Emiliano Zapata

1879-1919 Doroteo Arango (Pancho Villa)

1878-1923 Subcomandante Marcos

?
Zapata and Villa fought in the Mexican Revolution against the the corrupt 30 year old regime of Porfirio Diaz, and for major reforms, including democratic elections and redistrobution of land to farmers. They fought for land and liberty (hence "Tierra y Libertad). They ousted Diaz, but lost power in the chaos and Zapata was assassinated by a doublecrossing army rogue. The Partido Revolucionario Institucional took power and set up their dictatorship. A few years later, Villa was assassinated.
On January 1st, 1994, the day that NAFTA went in effect, the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) declared war on the PRI. Carlos Salinas "revised" article 27 of the constitution allowing any piece of land to be bought and sold. The EZLN occupied several cities in Chiapas. The war lasted 12 days until a cease-fire was reached. The Federal Army continued and still continues to hound them, violating the peace agreement.
The modern day Zapatistas still continue to fight for democracy, justice, and liberty, and against neoliberalism. Sub-Marcos is the spokesperson of the EZLN, and does most of its speaking so that the voice of the voiceless can be heard.

| Pancho Villa is bit of oddball, but Emiliano Zapata and Subcomandante Marcos are definitely heros.
"Viva Zapata!"

"Ya Basta!"

Also,
Zapata= Most Bad-ass revolutionary ever. _________________

| Doroteo "Francisco Villa" Arango, was not Zapatist, he was Villist, that is he had his own faction.
If these men had had more instruction, who knows... maybe Mexico and USSR would have been the pillars of the world revolution. |

| Actually Mexico was very close to becomming another socialist country in America.
Encircling USA wouldn't be a bad idea. |
