If you believe someone else is entitled to tell you what you need and how you should work (like those who think capitalism is good) then Stalin did a far better job at getting close to what people wanted than any single Tsar, even than who is considered the best Tsar of all, Peter the Great. |

Unfortunately for you and Mr. Conquest, there is no evidence for this. Ther were work camps indeed and it was most criminals who were sent there but it's impossible for millions to have got killed.
Claims of 20 million deaths are ludicrous enough let alone the ones that go as far as 100million.
Regardless of that, Stalinism, with all its flawed shit and terror brought an unprecedented progress in all aspects of Russian (Soviet) life.
For a tyrany, Stalin and overall the Soviet dictatprship, have been so far the best Russia has had.
Of course tyrany is shit, and that particular tyrany's capitalisticity made it horribly unstable.

The arguement here is who was the best Tyrant. The best tyrant of those three tyrants was Stalin. Why? Because he brought the greatest progress within the context of a Social (although capitalist) dictatorship which implied the Russian living standards and overall development rose inmensely in contrast to what the Russian Empire used to be. |

| any and every leader is a tyrant. tyrants come about via coup de force leaders just follow in the tradition. from a purely economical aspect of it, the best being stalin. he brought about a complete revolution in technology, an economic revolution, and higher standards of living (for those left alive) but everyone of them is evil albeit i still slightly respect lenin. |

Which is my point.
I don't know what to think about Lenin though. His NEP makes me question his socialisticity severly. After vanguardists can be geniune socialists, just vanguardism is not socialist. |
