If someone does not want you to be nice to them, should you be nice to them anyway? Ex: Someone does not want something for their birthday. Should you give them something?

I porobably should make it clearer. This is not about someone saying they don't want something-well it is, but they really don't want it, it's not just they say that but don't mean it.

Most people just pretend that they don't care how people treat them but nearly everyone likes to be treated nice - unless their a masochist but even then their desire for abuse is purely sexual and in no way emotional.

Generally I think you should be nice to everyone.

However I get the feeling that you might be trying to be nice to someone who
dislikes you - in this case they may perceive your kindness as annoying or even agressive. Its not that they don't want you to be nice to them - they just not want to be near you full stop.

You prob shouldn't waste your time being kind to someone who dosn't even acknowlage the nature of your kindness. Be nice to everyone but dont talk to people who don't accept your niceness, it will only drag you down.
