No doubt the revolutionary current is strongest in the working class however in the developed world the true working class represents but a third of the population and is in a constant state of flux. bourgeoisie society has - 'for self sustaining purpose' created a culture in which the very purpose of life is to become bourgeoisie. Those within the working class act only to achieve some remenant of bourgeoisie status and so strive to join the middle class. Half of the working class are pre-ocuppied with climbing the social hierarchy. This is a problem as far as revolution is concerned.

It would appear that status is key - capitalism requires consumerism fulled by status obsession in order to sustain itself.

The working class can be divided into two groups:

1. Those who seek to improve their condition by way of unified class
action - socialism - workers solidarity ect
2. Those who seek to improve their condition by escaping their class.

Those who progress to the middle class generally go into lower management thereby making the transition from blue collar to white collar often to become petty buguarsie. They proceed to buy property which reflects their new found status - they do this in order to differentiate themselves from the low-status working class, who are - usually without property.

It has been said that those of the middle class are members of the working class. However to what extent is this true ? Their occupations are marked with a large degree of power over their working class counterparts - they are the management class and as such the glue that holds capitalism together. The bourgeoisie have understood for a long time that in order to prevent the unification of labor they need to maintain a high standard of living for the middle class. This leads the bourgeoisie to grant the management class very large wages regardless of the intensity of their work - If the bourgeoisie are the slave owners the middle class are most certainly the slave drivers.

'middle-class parents who stress the values of self-control, curiosity, and consideration are cultivating capacities for self-direction... while working class parents who focus on obedience, neatness, and good manners are instilling behavioral conformity." - Dennis Gilbert, The American Class Structure, 1998

It is true that middle class parents install in their children the phsycological
requirements to - run the machine.

We can see this phenomenon within the US today an example - The middle class standard of living faces decline - hence the leading parties representing the bourgeoisie want to 'take care of the middle class' - needles to say the reason is fear of labor unification.

The bourgeoisie require the middle class to man their machine of exploitation - The middle class yearn to become bourgeoisie and own the machine - the working class yearn to man the machine rather than be subject to its brutal whims.

It is impossible to understand people's behavior, without the concept of social stratification, because class position has a pervasive influence on almost everything, the clothes we wear... the television shows we watch... the colors we paint our homes in and the names we give our pets... Our position in the social hierarchy affects our health, happiness, and even how long we will live.

—William Thompson, Joseph Hickey, Society in Focus, 2005

The bourgeoisie seek to keep the income gap middle class and working class as wide as possible. If they fail in doing so they run the of risk labor unification.

That said - Is it possible that middle class with their bourgeoisie loyalty can do anything other than undermine the class struggle ?

Tell me I did not just read an article which accused white collar workers of being slave drivers.
Smacks of anti-intellectual shit.

Anti intellectual nothing - it points out the very real attempt of the buguarsie to prevent the unification of labor by fostering class animosity by way of income distribution and status obsession.

Management and human resources 'are' after all - members of the middle class -

Without the support of the modern middle class social revolution is pointless - this is real problem that needs to be adressed, so lets dispense of the personal arkwardness and try to stay objective.

- hence the requirement of the buguarsie to maintain good relations with the middle class - It is no mistake to say that the management class are in fact the vechiles of buguarsie interests.

As far as class struggle is concerned the upper and mid middle class would likely side with the buguarsie since their interests are entwined. It would be a foolish mistake to say all those who do not own property are proletariat and as such share the same interests. - The Modern class dynamics need to taken into consideration.

Yes very large sections would side with them - this can be seen in many socialist revolutions.
