Raul Castro has announced his intention to for new reforms which will increase equality in Cuba.
"Socialism means social justice, equality. Equal rights and opportunities, not equal income. Equality isn't sameness."
With his speech he is taking a different path to socialism than his brother Fidel Castro, who supported same income for all citizens.
Since Raul's rise to power, he gave many freedoms to Cubans, like for example giving them the opportunity to buy computers, mobile phones and to live in luxurious hotels.
His government removed some regulations on the maximum income so that people who work harder may earn more income.
There are speculations that the real income will be increased after the appreciation of the Cuban peso and also that the restrictions on travelling to other countries will be loosened soon.
With these reforms Raul Castro is laying a new milestone for a new, more democratic socialism.
