| Igor Nikolayevich Larionov (Russian: Игорь Николаевич Ларионов; born December 3, 1960 in Voskresensk, Soviet Union now Russia) is a retired Russian ice hockey player. Along with Viacheslav Fetisov, he was instrumental in breaking the barrier that stopped Soviet players from joining the National Hockey League. He primarily played the center position, and is considered one of the best passers of all time. Larionov won three Stanley Cup championships with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998, 2002) and was inducted as an Honored Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame on November 10, 2008.Larionov eventually became the leader of the Soviet players' efforts to win their freedom, leading Tikhonov to kick him off the Soviet national team under suspicion that he might defect to the West.
Larionov was one of the first athletes to leave Soviet Russia to play professional sports, opening barriers for other players, to enjoy full freedom.

Due to his capitalization. How is getting more freedom and not having you're life controled by the state because you're good at hockey is being capitalized? Your sayings are very insultant.

He's being capitalized by the west political agenda as an icon of freddom while he's nothing but an overpaid proletarian in there. Overpaid? Absoulutely not! Elite Athletes usually play 3 years, and they're life is usually 10 years shorter than the average man. + He generates way more money that he receives... how is that overpaid?

Miners usually work 40 years and their lifespan is in average 20-30 years shorter than the average man and they produce (money-wise) in average from 600 to 60 times what they're paid. The product they create is essential to societal development, yet they earn thousands of times less what an Elite Athlete, which gives no contribution to society, does. Why is he overpaid? Simple: he's given shitloads of money for generating nothing but a show based on an activity anyone could practice instead of watching.

Problem is, not everyone can do what they do, everyone can do what a miner does. An Elite athlete can generate up to 50 Millions a year by itself, i think no miners can say that. And yes Miners have arsh conditions, (well not that much nowadays and over here they're paid like 50 000$ a year) but i dont think someone is constantly giving them shots with a Metal Bar in the back. The average elite athlete plays 3 years, that is hell of a short, then he is not able to follow again because of his injuries, and he will never receive anything in compensation, miners do, when theyr work injures them for like, they receive about 1-2 millions. An elithe athlete receives nada. Oh and yeah, who the **** says watching hockey and playing it doesn't go together? Wtf?

I challenge you to go 100m underground and break your back for 40 years to exctract charcoal and say "Heh, anyone can do this!". Either way... what would be the relevance of that? It is a necesary activity in contrast to una unnecesary one. One feeds social infrastructure the other gets paid to be recorded performing a hobby. - Jesus wrote:

They can say this: "Thanks to me steel, computers, buildings, cars, planes, medicines, tools, roads and ect. can be made" which is by far more important than creating some fictional value. - Jesus wrote:

In most of the world miners are paid 5USD a day and below. Either way their work is not only essential to society but also lifethreattening. And I can assure you it's not quite an entertaining job. - Jesus wrote:

So not only are they paid shitloads of money for giving nothing to society but a distraction product of a consumerist culture, they should also receive some compensation for sustaining injuries performing their hobby? My my, I wish someone had given me at leats 50 bucks for getting my finger swollen after playing guitar for hours. Oh I forgot I'm not the image base for bunches of merchandising. Either way that is irrelevant. Miners are essential to society, elite athletes are not. My point is that a sportsman can hardly be heroic for performing his "profession" and much less when his "act of heroism" is fuel for demagogic political campaings.

If AT LEAST the money generated by atheletes was used medical researches or this kind of thing that would bring something to society but seriously, athletes are not useful, not at all you see. Ok, they train themsleves and work, but should I pay you because you painted the wall of your house different colors? It's still a work, but it only serves them to stay healthy *when no drugs/anabolic steroïd implied*. We could live without atheletes. We could live very well.

| Most elite athletes pay a big price to perform at they're level, they basically have no social life from the age of 14, where they are taken away from they're family and friends so they can go somewhere they didn't even knew it existed, so they can play at a higher level and have a SHOT at the majors. Even there your insured to scrap your studies, but you have a 0,5% chance and even lower to make it. If you are drafted, then, you pass usually around 4-5 years playing 8 to 9 months where you can't see your family and friends traveling around North America in a crap bus where your paid 25000$ a year and you don't have your strable home. After that you can enjoy your 1-2 average year at the top level being paid 450 000$ for each year than you retire. NO LILITH IT DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT, A SPORTS TEAM IS A FUCKING BUSINESS NOT A CHARITY GROUP.
And yes Zealot everyone can work in a mine for 40 years, that is exactly why they have a shit salary, and not everyone can play sports at such a high level, and that's why they have a greater salary.
Tyrlop: From your photo i assume you never played sports younger and we're in a chess team, and we're bullied by sports guy, or maybe not, just an impression.

Not all artists have the same condition. Either way, this is no way adresses the heroisticity of sportsmen. Lilith could easily tell you that, while she doesn't like sports that much, she does like art, feeling herself identified with artists.
