Hello friends of World Republic.

I know that there exist many people here who do not know how socialist or communist economies are supposed to work, so let me enlighten you with my overflowing fountain of truth.

First let me explain about scarcity. This is a fundamental concept in technocracy but I also think it can be important to explaining capitalism and communism.

In communism there is no money, people have no requirements to work and they can get anything they want without paying. There are no restrictions.

For this type of economy to exist, there can be no scarcity, everything must be abundant.

When the amount of a specific good is less than the amount there is a desire for, then there is a scarcity of that good; If there is more, then there is an abundance.

If there is an abundance of something, then it can be made free, people don't have to pay for it.

Not only that, but when there is an abundance, there can *not* be a price on it. Don't believe me? Try selling air- it's not possible.

You see, this is one of the fundamental contradictions of capitalism. The general tendency is to improve the standard of living and technology, and it has done well compared to the modes of production that existed before it. However, all value in capitalism comes from the exploitation of labor so technology can not be allowed to eliminate very much human labor because that would reduce profits.

So capitalism decreases scarcity, but it can not eliminate it, because then it would cease to exist.

Once the contradictions of capital cause capitalism to fall, the socialist mode of production will serve as a transition to pure communism. I actually prefer not to think of socialism and communism as completely distinct but rather two ends of the same continuum.

In socialism, workers will be paid according to how many hours they labor, so they will receive the same amount of value they produced. Commodities will be priced according the socially necessary labor time contained in them.

The worker's democracy will manage the economy. They will be able to keep track of how much of each commodity tere is a demand for so that they can make sure thee right amount of each commodity is produced and sent to the places which demand them.

The structure of the socialist economy contains an inherent tendency toward abundance. Because the price of a commodity is equal to the socially necessary labor time contained in it, a commodity that is produced by machines will cost less than a commodity that is produced purely by human labor. This means that commodities that are produced more by technology will be purchased more, and therefore produced more than ones produced by human labor.

Capitalism also has this tendency, because of the labor theory of value, but after a certain point, it ceases to be more profitable because machines produce no extra value. So capitalism can not eliminate scarcity but socialism can.

It can be mathematically determined when abundance is reached. This is when the demand for a commodity is less than what can possibly be produced. Since socialism increase the powers of production by increasing the powers of technology, it is inevitable that abundance will be reached for all commodities. When a commodity ceases to be scarce, then it can be made free for consumption.

Thank you very much. I always seem to underestimate myself, apparently.
