PostSubject: World of Warcraft   Sat May 23, 2009 11:05 pm

I was just playing World of Warcraft, but instead of enjoying the game all I could think of was that the only reason blizzard developed such a game was for making money. It was designed so you could never beat it, so that you could allways come back for more. Ive met some people in my life who were SERIOUSLY addicted to this game. Like, it made there lives much worse and they had to force themselves to stop. Even when a play another MMO such as Starwars galaxies, I can atleast tell it was devoloped for the users enjoyment, not there money. I think playing games were the soul purpose is for the company to take your money is against my moral code. What do you guys think?

Every game you have to pay for is made for money. In almost all cases.

And paying for MMO's is weak and sucks, but its someone's choice to do it.

Then don't play your xbox 360 games, all your pc games, dont play it anymore, cuz its against your moral code now. Wink

Or play.. STALIN VS MARTIANS, its one of the most sucky games ever, but the makers dont give a fuck about it yay. And I heard its only 20 bucks or something.

Oh and its kinda smart for makers to make a MMO a game that can never really be beaten, so people will pay more to play it(as in, pay for every month and all). Its smart company people, touche.

What, you don't like midless grinding? Some people REALLY enjoy that. Diablo's made by the same people, you know. And a MMO generally DOESN'T have an end. I eman,t ehre's a minor story in WOW, so you can do that. It allows you to keep going, though.

And all MMOs are made as money makers. This isn't new.

Capitalism. Money making. Even several marriages are for making money... Products... well of course the main objective is for the money.

And about WoW? I haven't played it but I get the impression it allows you to play without any single objective, pretty much like GTA. That way you don't stop playing unless you grow tired of the game which, if doesn't happen is endless. You enjoy and they sell constantly, doens't seem like a big moral conflict to me, and this definitely should come as something wonderful for someone that believes that almighty lord €conomy is pleased by the acts of selling and buying.

MMOs aren't supposed to be "beaten". You don't win or lose. You just play or don't play.

Thanks for this useful clarification.

(No sarcasm intended in case you may have thought so - why do I explain? Once I finished the sentence I reliazed it may have seemed sarcastic, or so it seemed to me.)

Well in WoW you do got a objective, like when your doing a quest and all geek .

And GTA has missions to, and when you dont have any mission anymore, the game is beaten to me. afro

But I love MMO's and RPG's and free worlders(a.k.a sand box), so richfull with cities and story etc.
But paying per month(or 3) sucks, fuck that.

But you can go screwing around without ever completing them.

True. And while those people do that, the rest of us will be unlocking new cars and "islands" on which we can screw around on. (Smiles.) Seriously, I hate when poeple do that. "Well I just want to drive around, getting chased by cops." Well maybe if you did a mission or two you could do that on a whole nother island, with new cars.

I was pretty much refering to the "entire stories". I mean completing some missions to unlock things then screw around mainly and such. Else, even if you complete them, if you keep playing the game it will be screwing around all over the places available.

The difference is

GTA iS AWESOME.

I will still play games if there fun to me, Diablo 2 is ok, it gets boring and then my friends all like WE HAVE TO KEEP PLAYING! And then I leave the game and play Age of Empires. So yea, I could have just been in a bad mood or some such that day, but I came to realize the soul purpose of WoW is to make money.

Also, CKX, the most famous Soviet Game is Tetris. It was bought after the coldwar, the used it to stimulate the minds of Cosmonauts. (atleast thats what Ive heard from various gaming resources)

Tetris was not the first game. The first was made on an old computer. It involved a space ship flying around, shooting at another. It's actually kind of cool. Of course, that computer took up an entire room and even when pong came out was far more advanced. It was a multiplayer game!

Nope. American all the way. Now, I'm not denouncing Tetris. One of the finest games ever made, that is, even today.
