I feel the same way. Ron Paul is interesting to talk about, since I regard myself as both a Socialist and a Libertarian. I want to accept him as a true Libertarian - Capitalist economics aside - but I just can't. He appears, to me anyway, to be more of a Christian Minarchist with respect to certain social issues. But, to be fair, his views on American foreign policy are a breath of fresh air.

I mean you'd literally need people completely conscious that they're going to get exploited and willing to get exploited for the sake of getting exploited... You'd literally need economic Sadomasochists or mindless drones for capitalism to actually be libertarian and we know perfectly that's not how the real world is. Even if an entire generation was entirely informed and consensual about capitalism (in a libertarian framework), what guarantees the other generation won't be coerced into it? For example, how do you protect property rights without coercion? As for your assessment on Repauldem, I agree. - WWW wrote:

A politic of anti-imperialism is non-workable for a country like the US of which economic hegemony is entirely dependant on imperialism.

Which doesn't work for USA making his proposal a moot proposal. - CoolKidX wrote:

Yeah which is basically traditional republicanism taken to extreme without the foreign intervention policy, in other words, can't work.
