It took the Palestinians 8 years to drop over Israel slightly less than half the ordnance Israel dropped in less than 10 minutes over Palestine. And with much less precision.
The Palestinian weapons range from improvised home made rockets with CEPs of up to 5km (that's nearly no accuracy) to some Soviet WWII rockets. The bulk of their weaponry consists of improvised rockets.
Israel has missiles with CEPs smaller than 1m, in other words, extremely precise.
So well, what's the relevance of this? Palestinians literaly are just shooting randomly in what looks like nothing but a desperate measure to inflict at least some damage to whom they consider their oppressors (after all, and this is undeniable, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were kicked out by the Israelis at the consent of the international community). Alone in the world, kicked out of their homes and with their dignity crushed, under extreme material limitations and lacking a military infrastructure, they merely improvise some weapons and do what they can against Israel.
Is this ok? No. But it's understandable. What's the relevance of this? Palestinians are literally protesting. They see it as the only mean through which they can keep at least a tadbit of dignity.
Israelis, on the other hand, have literally besieged Palestine, isolated it from the world (after kicking them out of what is Israel now) and have replied with extremely brutal force. A brutal force that far from stopping the Palestinian attacks will encourage more and seed hatred, aside from causing increased suffering to tens of thousands of individuals.
Human shields? This is a misguiding term. When you're invading and bombing such a densely populated area as Gaza, where do you expect the combatants to come from? Where do you expect them to fight from? They come from the Palestinian people, once you invade the line between the defending civilians and fighters blurrs specially, again, in such a densely populated area. Add up to that the fact that you're blowing several blocks of buildings a day, there's not much shelter left for anyone there neither for the jihad fighter nor the kid running away from bombs. It is a completely chaotic situation.
Sure put some make up to it and make Palestinians look like they're using human shields. That surely works when you drop a bunch of Mk-84s over homes and universities.
Would Palestinians kill more people if they had higher precision weapons? I doubt it. I think they'd pretty much go for government, military and industrial buildings - they know they do more harm to their enemy and they'd win moral scores at an international scale than if they managed to hit a kindergarten. They may be ideologically misled, but they're certainly not idiots.
If Israel really wanted just to hit Hamas, Al Jihad and such, they could use much higher precision techniques. There's no need to drop 100 tons of bombs over random residential blocs like if Palestinians were a plague that has to be sprayed with pesticide.
They could fly all the way to Uganda and retrieve hostages with their special forces. Why don't they deploy such to Palestine to take out rockets' factories, warehouses and overall hideouts? Why don't they use their extremely precise cruise missiles to take out specially designated targets? Why not using unmanned drones to launch laser guided missiles on them?
Sure that wouldn't solve the problem, because the roots of the problem are not even there, but hell, they would spare so much suffering and death to the palestinians, avoid so much destruction and definitely spare internatonal condemnation.
