I think my professor is a Socialist.

Okay, so I had this professor last semester, and I had my suspicions about him. I have a class with him this semester, and it's really starting to become more apparent.

Here's my evidence:
* He makes numerous IWW and Karl Marx related jokes - the very first class this semester, he said, "Sup y'all, this is the biggest class I've ever taught here... it's sort of like we're One Big Union."
* He has written for Historians Against the War and International Encyclopedia of Revolution and Protest.
* He caught me reading The Conquest of Bread, and simply commented, "Nice book."
* He's writing a book about Rosa Luxemburg.
* He wrote a book entitled "Circles of Resistance: Jewish, Leftist, and Youth Dissidence in Nazi Germany."
* His research and teaching interests include: "Modern Germany, the Holocaust, anti-Nazi resistance, comparative genocide, labor and working-class history, Islamic civilizations."
* His favorite band is The Clash.

I don't know, I think it's maybe more that I'm hoping that he's a comrade than that he actually is one. But I don't know, the evidence seems to be more than just circumstantial.

Should I ask him about it, or is that violating the professor-student relationship? Is that too personal of a thing to ask?

Yeah ask it, I sometiems ask stuff like that to teachers for the lolz.

But I'm not sure if he's a socialist, maybe just left-wingy or a social-democrat, and the "Sup y'all, this is the biggest class I've ever taught here... it's sort of like we're One Big Union." thing, yeah that's not very socialist or something. Left leaning though but I dont conisider it really socialist.

But yeah maybe he is so go ahead and ask, would be funny if he was.

I agree with CK; you should ask. If he's that leftist, i don't think he'd care if you asked him that (especially considering leftists need to be open, otherwise we reach no one).

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was a socialist, considering university professors tend to be much more conscious than your average public school teacher (Elementary to highschool teachers are some of the most reactionary people i've had the displeasure of interacting with).

Well, the IWW is an openly socialist (syndicalist) union, so referencing the One Big Union slogan is much more lucid than even those other things Wei stated.

High school teachers are shit, they are not very intellectual in some political way, well they can be but I think there's a more chance a professor who writes stuff is.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that he's a former labor organizer.

I think I'm just going to ask or something.

I'm gonna laugh when he tells he's a right wing conservative.
But that won't happen.

My guess is between socail-democrat and socialist.

To be honest, I kind of like not knowing. It'd be kind of weird for me if I did.

But I'm definitely sure he is some kind of Leftist, but I'm just not sure what kind. He almost admitted to it last week. I complained to him about a professor of mine who said that he really enjoyed a book by Glenn Beck. He replied, "Well, that sucks. I mean, I'm not going to preach to you guys about... well, Frank, I think you know what."

My friend has a Russian teacher and I was texting her in class, cause all the kids who have her say shes very sovietish. I told him to ask her if she supports socialsim, she said she dose and dosent think Obama is necicarly a socialist, she dosent like Capitalism, but dosent think Communism will work.


So we say shes a centrist.

i have a doctor in the school, some people says he is a pedophil because he touches some kids, but anyways he is slovenian and has a wierd accent and wears glasses. so one day ony of my friends asked him if he was a communist and he said hell no, my grandfather fought in the SS in eastern europe, he says that it was because of the jews that the lost, the war, since the jewish zionists had put spies in the soviet government so stalin would break the peace with hitler. he also says that muslims are invading europe and they should be kicked out, he also said he believe in white supremacy even though he is has dark hair, he said he would do anything for his country. but he doesnt like nazism.
