He's actually dressed in Korean style armor if you mean the lineart on the right. Korean armor had vertical "dragon scale" type plates in them, whereas Japanese had horizational one peice plates.

The Japanese were also more elaborate in their armour, showing off colours to denote what regiments they were in and give that "tough guy" factor.

Korean, of course, was more drab and focused more upon calming colours in their days... ^^

And for his female friend...well...the swords were huge back then. For serious...

And which Star Ocean do you mean? End of Time? My sister has that game and the VAs are actually quite good. I was impressed by the graphics and storyline, a feat since it's a 2000s console game we're talking about. lol

Star Ocean: The second story. I wasn't aware there was a first story, haha, but it was a tight game on playstation. End of Time was tight too, i thought. The only thing that reminded me of dias was the hair, i guess. And maybe the fact that the guy on your desktop seems like he would have a sword.
