Ok, I have seen so many hateful remarks regarding America in here it's ridiculous. The majority of American's don't act the way you think. Most American's are pretty conscious of what is going on around the world. Why the hell do you think President Bush's approval rating is fucking terrible. Almost everyone on here has been mislead by media, propaganda, their own delusions or whatever. How can you honestly talk shit about the people of America when you don't know shit about the American people. Seriously it's incredibly immature. Get over yourselves and your high and mighty thinking.

O.K. thats my rant Razz

I am also an American but I know America is a shitty ass country. It is the most imperialist nation in the world, one of the most right wing, and definitely the most racist. You can hardly call yourself a leftist if you support America.

Did I say i supported America? No, I support the people of America. I am very displeased with the Government. But I think the rest of the world doesn't give enough credit to the people of America.

Yep. America "supports" "human rights", "peace", and "applepiennukes" for better "marketing".

As for the people who support America, Pannekoek is absolutely correct. Sure, yes, Americans are extremely nice people and just as human as anybody else but the PROBLEM IS...

They DO NOT respect other countries. Whether it be culture or the way they look, they see it as "Oh my God! This *insert nation here* has no Western clothing, no technology, no democratic government! We MUST bring "freedom" to them! We MUST "liberate" them!"

Then they find out it wasn't what all their "friendly" government told them and become disillusioned, only to reawaken with a new blind fervor whenever a new "threat" presents itself.

The people in America just wouldn't change their destinty, they CAN'T change their ways. Why?!

It's because they have gotten used to over 200 years of relatively normal peace (when compared to say...Asia?) and are incapable of adapting life in a changing society.

In short, America is a bubble armed with racism and "exceptationalism". The fact that America hasn't had a SINGLE war on their own grounds ever since the Civil War only supports the fact that most Americans think other nations that go to forced war are "nationalistic jingoistic war lovers".

They should look at what Iraq really is... Evil or Very Mad

You are very ignorant my friend. Actualy I think you are as ignorant as the people that you speak of. The majority of America didn't support the war nor do they now. The Majority of America is not racist. The majority of America do not see other countries this way. It is only the small amount of extreamist that we see on t.v. just like you only see the extremist Muslims on tv

Oh really? I DO know that many Americans hate the so-called "War on Terror" and maybe aren't so racist, but looking back at American history, I can safely say that America has been the most hypocritical and backwards country in it's short 300 years.

Just let Clinton or McCain win the Presidency and you'll see what I mean. Cool

Are you kidding me??? Do you know anything about history at all? Finding a scapegoat to blame all of the problems in the world is a very unintelligent way to think. Like I said, I deeply respect the American people. We have to put up with this bureaucratic bullshit everyday. Almost everyone hates the way things are set up. How are people so full of themselves to even think like this. The American people understand that there is a problem and many are trying to fix it. If you criticize America, do so about the government. We do not think like this about any other nation when clearly there have been more hypocritical nations before us. Sure some complain about France and Mexico but that is the minority. Respect us like you would want to be respected. Remember the Golden Rule as well as the Golden Mean. Just because America has flaws does no mean it's the spawn of Satan himself.

I respect almost everyone and I really can't be mad at anyone because it is the media who is really at fault. They don't go out and try and talk to the real people or they don't go onto college campus's. Remember "don't taze me bro" guy? Its the authority who is at fault. And I guess it is our fault for letting it get like this. I have not directed this towards anyone but the world as a whole. Including those "self-hating Americans" out there

you are wrong my friend. even during the presidential elections our votes dont count for anything. We have what is called an electoral college that has about 538 that do the actual voting. We are a republic and vote for representatives. The people only have say when we vote on who represents us. But the representatives can vote for whatever they want. So the people literally have no say in what happens. The people did not vote Bush back into office nor did they vote to go to war

The Republican party is made up of two groups

1.The very rich
2.The very stupid

It is in the interest of first group to keep people uneducated via the media ect. The old saying is true, uneducated people are easier to control.

Unfortunately about half-third of Americans vote for Neo Conservitive extremists , this said its fair to say that the US constitutes a significant threat to global stability. The only people who don't realize this are Americans themselves due to their 'cultural superiority complex'.

Yeah. So very true. Sad

Monono, I understand you feel very confused and possibly even hurt at my harsh words against America but the truth is, I've been hurt by the American public so much that I just can't accept America as this "dreamland" that most people see it to be. Yes, I do understand Americans (like all other humans) can be kind and understanding, but...the society is simply fueled by subtle propaganda against other countries. America presents itself as a "protector of freedom", openly criticising Europe, or Asia, or now the Middle East, while not even addressing problems of it's own. Because of that, I feel many Americans are not even aware of the entire world around them. To them, it's simply "USA!" That's it.

Remember what Chinese immigrants in the late 1890s went through to "acheive" the so-called "American Dream"? To be rich? Pursuit of happiness?

Well, my family used to be rich...but everything went to crap. In America, if you mess up and go from rich respected man to penniless broke, almost NOBODY will respect you. My family had to move to a small sleepy town (which we still live today) and make new friends. We did...but still, we struggle thru the insane economic payments and once, I even was played into the wrong hands. Long story short, I trusted a man whom I thought was a friend, but instead, he made up twisted shit for the money. My family was the ONLY ones who trusted me back then. Nobody else did.

Nobody.

I lost my respect and trust for the Americans that day. I realized, "These people, so-called "saviors of the world" and "world power". They don't care. They don't care as long as they have money...or whatever benefits them." And each and EVERY single time I have tried to befriend an American outside my community, they do the exact same thing. They don't listen, they don't care, they want all things now.

I can befriend other Americans just fine in my real life. They are human as just as I am. And due to the research I have done on American histroy and class I am taking, American society is unfortunately, very much fear driven. And as a person who hates fear, I take that to heart very much. I was born trusting too easily, and that broke me as an American citizen. So, I don't even consider myself an American. Not because a stupid peice of paper with a signature said so. No, I go by my blood and genetics.

I'm fairly surprised that those deep rifts of racism, xenophobia, and fear haven't torn the people to pieces...

As a friend of mine has said, "Americans thrive off of fear." Sad

Many people in my community are dumb enough to beleive Mid-Eastern people are murdering terrorists simply because of the news and this "Isalmofascist" myth the government has cooked up. Samething with most Chinese and Koreans, we are sometimes called "Red communists". Even though it's taken as a joke, it just shows how deeply the American public are affected by propaganda.

And yes, Matta. US has "Electoral College". What a crappy hypocritical way, but at least it isn't like it was ORIGINALLY proposed. Otherwise, US Senators would pick the Presidents. Now THAT would be major suckage. D:

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences. The US still suffers from much racism
ect esp in the Republican states, which interestingly enough are mainly former members of the confederacy.

Im Irish but grew up in the UK not far from London so many of my childhood friends where Muslim ect and from different countries, I think poor rural Americans are largely detached from other peoples cultures and this xenophobia is exploited by the rich and powerful for political reasons.

1 out of 10 Americans live in poverty. Sad That is about 3 million or so.

The good thing is, at least poor rural people are generally nice enough to befriend a newcomer at first sight. I personally feel, while they are more than eager to learn more about other culture and respect, they are unfortunately more liable to be led into propaganda by a so-called "figure of authority".

I mean, look at American Asian communities. They are extremely tight-knit and hardly 1 precent of influence barely gets out. Take Japanese anime for example. Americans are admittedly, ADDICTED to that stuff. The bad problem is, because of the mindset that "cartoons equals kid stuff", MANY good series are fully edited, butchered with horrid dubbing, and heavily censored by the companies that get their dirty hands upon those titles. Shit like Narutard (frakking hate) get all the glory because it's shown on TV, while others are carelessly packed into DVD format and shipped to hardcore fans WHO CAN AFFORD IT.

Gods...

I can understand how you feel. I don't want this to be a WOE IS MEEEEE thread but i feel that I am now obligated. I was born with hirschsprung's disease and had my first surgery when i was only 3 weeks old. I spent my first christmas in the hospital. I then again had another when I was 1 year old. I grew up in a trailer on a dirt road with no air or heater. During the winter we had a space heater which we would all huddle around. My father would beat the shit out of my mom right in front of me while she would call out for me to call 911. I didn't know what to do so I had to just sit there and watch. I have not seen him(gladly) since I was about 9. He has 6 kids that I know of with 3 different women and doesnt pay child support for any. I didn't own any new clothes until i was in middle school because my mom couldnt afford it after the two major surgeries, she had 3 jobs just to make ends meet. Believe me I have been shunned by so many because i was never rich and never wore the clothes that were in or have the best new gaming system. But am I angry at those kids? no. Do I feel sorry for myself? no. I am glad i grew up with adversity, I think it made me a better person. I am now in college on a full scholarship and I graduated from high school with Honors. Would I have done this if i had grown up with everything given to me? probably not. And you say you dont consider yourself American?? seriously get over yourself. Did Germans say they wernt germans after WW2? My grand parents are from Germany, they came over in about 1938 and they still said they were German.

It is not the majority of the people's fault when they are scared of Muslims. Look at the media. They are just ignorant to the reality of the subject and need to be educated. But what happens when other countries, instead of educating the ignorant, call them stupid, killers, evil, etc... What happens? They get fucking upset and turn their backs on you. It is as much as the rest of the worlds fault as it is our governments. All of the other countries think they are so high and mighty compared to us stupid yankees right? NO you are know better than us. By only calling names what is getting accomplished? instead of trying to reach out what do you do? you spit on us. I am fucking sick and tired of it. The entire world needs to grow up. Everyone gets shat on, THAT IS WHY WE ARE TRYING TO CHANGED IT. What are you going to do when the Socialist Republic happens? close your borders to us? Hypocrites.

"While in any given year 12 to 15 percent of the population is poor, over a ten-year period 40 percent experience poverty in at least one year because most poor people cycle in and out of poverty; they don't stay poor for long periods. Poverty is something that happens to the working class, not some marginal 'other' on the fringes of society."
