You need to brush up on your history.
Even Marx never denied that the proletarians that he wished to be the forefront of the revolution were the industrial workers. He believed that they are more organized and sophisticated, and not primitive and instinctual like the peasants and the lumpenproletariat.
This is of course disproven if you look at history and fact.
Of course people use the word proletariat to mean worker, but i assumed you used, since you were a marxist at the time, if i recall correctly, that term to mean industrial workers... In fact, i'm not even sure where we are in this debate since it was cold for such a long while.
