I think we should have a Karl Marx Fan Club.

Constitution of the Karl Marx Fan Club:
1. Everyone must agree with everything Marx said, except for obvious things like him being anti-semitic.
2. If someone does not agree with him, they must either admit they were wrong, or be expelled from the Club.
3. All decisions are made democratically by everyone in the Club who chooses to participate.

Either you're all joking, in which case this belongs in spamistan, or you're all serious, and you're making a personality cult. I doubt Marx would like the idea. "I'm not a Marxist", sound familiar? And Marx sometimes changed his views, so which views were right? At first he didn't like the Paris commune because there was no dictatorship, then he changed his view more along the lines of Bakunin (probably because it was a more popular view within the socialist clique). And will you follow young Marx or old Marx; humanist Marx or "scientific" Marx?

im not a marxist- out of context

Quote:

in marx's time, dictatorship simply meant rule. democracy is dictatorship of the majority. socialism is dictatorship of the proletariat. marx said the pars commuen was waht the dictatorship of the proletariat should look like. plus i dont recall marx ever opposing the paris commune or ever thinking himself in the same clique as bakunin.

plus siuntifec marx obweously the yung one used morality yuckk.

He was distancing himself from sectarianists. How is this out of context in this thread?

That's quite the change from 1850, wouldn't you say?

Quote:

My meaning was a bit confused, my bad. I merely meant to say that his theories before the commune were different than the practices of the commune. After the commune came about, he approved of it; this is a bit confusing though, since his theories prior were of complete centralisation, not at all preaching the federalised system of the commune.

I was using the term clique very loosely. They were both a part of the International, until Marx and his cohorts had Bakunin and Guillame kicked out.

I doubt Marx would say communism no better than capitalism.

wel in the context of youre words- you were just talking about a personality cult- my impression was that you meant that this statement meant he wouldnt apruve of a personality cult or something

yes it has changed. karl marx thought the paris commune was a dictatorship.

Quote:
The issue of Marx and morality poses a conundrum. On reading Marx's works at all periods of his life, there appears to be the strongest possible distaste towards bourgeois capitalist society, and an undoubted endorsement of future communist society. Yet the terms of this antipathy and endorsement are far from clear. Despite expectations, Marx never says that capitalism is unjust. Neither does he say that communism would be a just form of society. In fact he takes pains to distance himself from those who engage in a discourse of justice, and makes a conscious attempt to exclude direct moral commentary in his own works. The puzzle is why this should be, given the weight of indirect moral commentary one finds.
