| Lakhota indians have successfully declared independence from the US, do you think other indians could do this? Dividing the US and weakening it? | |

| did a bit more research..apparently it has been a nation for a good year now. It is actually a decently sized nation.. Hell i traveled through it this summer. But why has it not been mentioned and when I look at Wyoming on a map it still says Wyoming? | |

| thats the point. the government know it will be weakened, the lakhota even allow refugees (of all nationalities) to flee the the US and live in their land. But they need supporters, as few people even know of the countries existence. I want to go their...if you run away to another country are you considered a refugee? | |

| Now CASCADIA on the other hand could be a real nation. Cascadia is not landlocked for one... We have plenty of resources, power, and would be a clean well educated nation | |

| Cascadia is proposed to be made of up Canadian provinces British Columbia and Alberta, and US States Washington and Oregon. Im not sure if Alaska is included in there? Doubt it, but it makes sense for them to form some sort of semi-autonomous nation. I cant speak for the US, but British Columbians and their politics are totally out of wack with what goes on in our Ottawa capitol. Decentralisation! Whoohoo!
But I had never heard of this Lakota Republic before this thread, and I did some research but couldnt find much recent news on it. Are they recognized as a nation by anyone? Does the US recognize their withdrawing from the treaties?

| I was wrong, Cascadia is Alaska, BC, Washington, Oregon, parts of Idaho, and Northern California. | |

| Yea, the UN recognized them as a nation in 07.
and by the way in the future don't double post, it's fine for now but just letting you know that if you do it will.
Yea, anti-centralization for the win!
