my teacher was like "well alek your a socialist right? you must love obama huh? i mean the true core of socialism is state controlled economy" i was fuming at his idiocy

I saw a make-shift sign on my way back from work that said "Don't Vote Socialist", accompanied by a McGay-Phallus [*clears-throat* McCain-Palin] sign in the yard...and that's what i'll be working on tonight (since i'm broke i'll have to steal some eggs).

What's worse, it's in a poor neighborhood. Just goes to show how the uneducated and poor in this country are so easily manipulated.

As most of us are aware, the two major political parties in the U.S. are the Republican party (composed mainly of Conservatives) and the Democratic party (composed mainly of Liberals). As most here (but not all) will probably agree, you're choosing between two right-wing ideologies. Furthormore, Liberals, though still right-wing, are the more leftest of the two. This has created a fairly widespread misconception in the United States that Liberals are flat out leftist (probably because this is the farthest left ideology most people give any thought to, too brainwashed to consider learning anything of Socialism). John McCain has even warned that Barrack Obama is "too liberal" (as opposed to being even furthor to the right). It's these same sort of misconceptions that led to the rumor (or what is probably just a rumor) that he is a Socialist. It's easy for some people to confuse the two. This has been used against him, of course, due to the concept that such beleifs are immoral/unethical.

It's all pretty stupid, and annoying, if you ask me. I think that generally sums it up.

._. And all the while the economy is falling to shitt, the mass majority of the American people turn to their leaders (as if they give a crap) like sheep, all the while claiming socialism/communism is "leaders first and state fk that lulz".

It only proves the insanity and brokenness of this country. T.T

I have never understood why there are so many poor people, who vote for politicians who dont care about them and even tell them that they wont do anything for them.

Mc Cain has not promised a single thing that would be good for poor Americans, why are there poor people who vote for him?

Both 'commie' and 'socialist' are essentially synonymous with being evil/immoral/unethical to many of the people in question. If they are familiar with the term 'Socialist' they will probably use it.

I think i can speak for most everyone in this country (those of us who have seen through the facade anyway) when i say we are intentionally dumbed down since our birth. By our parents, for the most part (Alek's just one of the lucky few who don't have reactionaries for parents), by our schools, our teachers, our pastors, our neighbors. At this point, idiocy is just an intrinsic part of the american youth's education. It's being inhereted now; honestly, i don't see a way out, one of the main reasons i have no faith in the american people. Their last hope at this point is having some sense shot into them by the ghetto children (the only ones who have a chance at conciousness).

I agree with much of what Black_Cross says and I must say it doesn't apply just in the USA but generally around the world.

The ruling class is constantly making an effort to keep the populace dormant, through education, through church, through mass media and to a very important extent through the modus vivendi sold to us.

Mexico's most popular TV channel has been now broadcasting commercials with Mexico's greatest acting celebrities saying that "In time of crisis we have to work harder, we've come out of problems always. If someone tells you that this crisis is big tell him 'Mexico's heart is much bigger and we'll come out of it through working hard!', We can do it!" and things of te sort. What for? As a tool to brainwash people into thinking capitalist crisis is natural to economy and that the only way out of it is to maximize exploitation, because, after all, people do not have other choice within this framework.

That kind of campaining, applied to nearly all levels of communication has made people accept capitalism as an undeniable truth and to literally give a damn about politics as a whole thinking there's absolutely nothing to be done except just voting for the one that speaks more nicely or protest for higher wages.

That is infuriating.
