| Shabazz would love this thread, hell yeah. Two posts straight that remember him to me Maybe your mother doesn't like you or she simply sees you as part of her properties in which case she believes that she can do anything she wants with you. Also, she may have some mental unstability. | |

| While reading the past offences changed my mind, my FIRST thoguht was, "You deserved to be smacked, jackass!"
Let's face it. "Who are you talking to?" "Mind your own damn business!"
That's not a way to get someone on your side. But if she's done some of this other stuff.... But I don't know enough to judge. WHY did she steal the money? Do you guys KNOW she did it? Define "treating like shit". I just don't know enough to say.

But she smacked him, she(his mom) could always say "Don't be so rude and give me a normal answer" or something like that.

I disagree. Unless she has a good reason to smack him, she doesn't have the right. Since she's the one who started the conflict she well deserved an agressive reaction.

| It seems to be very hard with your mother.
Did you ever try being an example?
You know what I mean. Always talk in a polite way. I mean, there is no need to tell someone to go away, just because she wants to know what you are doing. Even if she said it in a bad tone.
You should try to prevent situations from escalating.

| October 17, I'm not saying your mother is in the right. You're welcome to feel how you do and certainly justified. Parents do what they can and it's not always the right thing.
There's more to it than you've told us though and you can't get in her head. You don't know what she's feeling or thinking. She could have a mental disorder or just plain mean. She could have a physical condition that she doesn't know about that's making her feel "off" and ends up taking it out on you guys.
Does she drink? Heavily? Does she do any dope (even prescription)? If she's been this way your entire life, it could be that she shouldn't have had children.
I know a lot of it is that you're venting right now and you're hurting. Do you have no memory at all of any good times with her? What about your dad? Is he available or willing to intervene?
I agree with Kenzu though to a degree. You're 17. I don't know how big you are, but at some point, you could probably do your mother some real damage if you hit her (not nice to hit girls, even and probably especially if they hit you first). Did she smack you on the back of the head or did she slap your face?
Sometimes it takes you to be the bigger person. Be civil. I'm not saying "be nice" but when she does ask you what you're doing, perhaps next time just say "chatting with a friend online." If she asks what about, perhaps that'll open the door for more conversation and *maybe* could solve some problems with her.
I lost my mother last July to pancreatic cancer. She and I were friends, but right after she died, all that went through my head was the arguments we had, the fights and the times I backtalked her. That hurt me more than remembering the good times (there were a lot of really good times). I back talked my mother when I was 16 - she tried to slap me and I grabbed her hand and told her not to do that. She never did again. She wasn't an abusive mother! Not in the least. Honor thy mother and father.
You are living in her house. You have to abide by her rules (for now). Being civil or nice to her might tick her off more, but you can then walk away knowing you did the best you could.
A beaten dog is a lot of times just as loyal as one who has been treated like a king/queen. Love her and try to understand what she's doing too and why. Are you the youngest or the oldest? Middle child? Do you have someone you can talk to (priest for example)? If you tell your school, you're going to end up dealing with social services - never a good thing in the USA, but if you have only a little time to go until you're out, sometimes you can just grin and bear it. Are there young (newborn to 10) children in the house?
Not a good situation in any light and I wish you well on whatever decision you come up with. We're here if you want to rant
