| An exposition in Sevastopol, Ukraine about the Holodomor was found to include several falsified photographies which were taken in different states of the USA during the Great Depression.
The Holodomor (from "Holod" which means "hunger" and "omor" "catasrophe"), also known as "The Ukrainian Holocaust", is an event which purportedly implied the sistematic and well panified genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Stalinist regime which ocurred during the context of three years of droughts and plans of collectivization. It is estimated that around 10 million people all over the Soviet Union died as a consequence of the starvation that followed the agricultural collectivizations and droughts. 5 of those 10 million died within Ukraine.
As soon as the Glasnost' and Perestroika within the USSR took place, nationalist groups within Ukraine started advancing the agenda for the capitalization of these deaths to fuel nationalism within Ukraine.
Since Ukraine split from the USSR, the government has been advancing more and more this distorted historical notion as a part of Ukraine's "desovietization" and approach towads the EU and USA.
While it is true that millions died within the USSR during this period and as a product in great part of the Stalinist collectivisation programmes, it is also a fact and as per undisclosed Soviet archives of the time, that this was not a planified genocide but rather a flawed economic initiative within a context of climatological hardships combined with the animosity of Kulaks with the government that ended up in disaster.
It is worth noting that Ukraine was probably the most important agricultural region within USSR and that's why such a great proportion of the victims is found within it.
I see this as a reprobable act of capitalization on human deaths to advance a political agenda.

(Not fully communism but it was a advance to it, like a stage) You sure want to argue this? I'm almost certain you do so here we go. It was not communism nor even a stage to it. The system of the USSR well within its foundations was nothing but a Capitalist Social Dictatorship. It was not socialism, nor partial communism, no. It was a Capitalist Social Dictatorship. Communism and socialism are the same thing (unless you want to take Leninism [which has been invalidated by practice] for good) and it can't exist partially; or it exists or it doesn't. In USSR it didn't exist: there was a ruling elite, there was a capitalist framework and of course there was exploitation. There's a relatively strong debate going on about this in the section Kenzu Milagro in the thread "Socialist thought".
