| Hello , my dear comrades.
I would like to see some serious discussions here that are informative and that don't degenerate into flame wars or other infantile nonsense. I am sure these are somewhere in the site-I have not yet seen every part. Any suggestions as to a good place to start? Perhaps if we all live up to our ideals of Socialism as the ideal and just way of life, people will understand that this is indeed something seriously GOOD. If we cannot show a decent example of what Socialism and Socialists are like, how can we expect anybody to learn about this beautiful possibility? The rest of the world is brainwashed by the powerful media and years of having been taught a one-sided version of history. It is up to you, the next generation, to bring sense and decent thinking into this wretched world. I am with you...and hope to find you thinking clearly and treating each other with dignity and respect, which is the exemplification of Socialist justice and fairness.
With best wishes, Your older Comrade

| Well, all I can say is that I am new here and am not anybody but myself. If or when the people you think I am, come to know that someone thinks that they have said what Is said by me, that will be interesting...
The main thing is that it will be nice for people who come to this site to be able to read and find some hope here. That is what I am interested in.If it is more important to some to talk about who they think is playing a game, that's alright, too, but I will leave it to you to discuss that sort of thing between yourselves. That's all I've go to say on this. In hope of a better world, your comrade

| Welcome AKinderWay I am someone else they suspected - apparently everyone is suspect. You'll find a number of diverse ideas on this forum. Some questing for knowledge, some secure in their beliefs. - Spoiler:
I myself don't believe Obama is going to do much good for the USA - if his budget passes, he'll have spent more money in less than 100 days in office than all other presidents combined. I don't think he's a centrist, more socialist which is surprising considering his previous "views" before he was elected.
More ideologies are discussed and debated here than specific people. *Generally* speaking, this isn't a hostile area, but sometimes it can feel that way. As far as the 1-10 scale and melon, there are several threads on that person. There are a couple of trials as well if you scroll down to the "justice comittee" (I'd love to edit that and spell it correctly, but not within my powers I'm afraid). I'm not socialist. More of an independent conservative - abortion should be up to the mother (choice) but I believe we should be able to own and bear arms I don't think the government should have any say in what we do on a personal level and should stay out of big business (such as AIG and GM right now - they're going to fail, we shouldn't be pumping more money into them). Welcome again and hope you find this place a good one for discussion (also, this is more information on my political views than I've given anywhere on the site, for my own personal reasons - I also think people should be able to make up their own minds on their political views and shouldn't be sheep, same with religion, but that's another site perhaps ) Also, I hope you can show that people can be of different ideologies and still get along More, I hope that you can help show that there is a way to discuss without heated argument that two people can have different views but still respect one another Big edit here..... I was responding to you AKinderWay, but I had someone else's main post in thought as well. The part about Obama and his presidency wasn't directed at you and shouldn't have been in this thread. I guess I got a bit overzealous in my own way of responding to you. No harm intended and I certainly hope you didn't take offense to what I said. What I am going to do is make that a "spoiler" and leave it in the post since I do feel that way but make it a spoiler because it wasn't directed towards you. The rest of the post is though

Which one of us do you have your eye on (since you changed in the middle lol)? This one at least is much older than the normal group, just as I am. Just do me a favor, don't treat everyone as they are the person charged until they actually show it... you'll end up running more people off than stay.

| Thanks to all who've welcomed me, especially kind-hearted Kismet, who had something to say other than speculation on who I might be. About political views-I would have to call myself a Socialist, but in a strict sense. Socialism- a step on the way up to Communism. Communism-the ultimate absolutely just, fair and kind way of life for all. These are economic systems, having nothing to do with how leaders are chosen and laws formed and kept. I think a democracy is the best idea yet for choosing leaders and laws. But there must be one more thing- a way to prevent corruption from developing in these systems. I don't think anyone has invented that yet. In a Capitalist state, corruption seems to not only be a natural by-product, but it gets nurtured every step of the way..I's unavoidable, as the basis for capitalism is to acquire as much wealth as possible for one's own self and don't care about anybody else. This is all smoothed over with a thin veneer of "The (insert name of country here) Dream: work hard and you, too, can have ANYTHING!". It sounds sweet but most will never taste that sweetness. We saw what finally happened in the beautiful but unfortunate Soviet Union. Amongst Communist Party members-- an elite class developed! These elite class people had access to goods, services and housing which others did not. It tasted very sweet for the few, and the rest kept faithfully working and never tasting a bit of sweetness...That is absolutely wrong and although it was certainly not planned or expected, it did happen. That is what we must find a way to prevent. If corruption can be prevented, then we have truly got the best way of life, the kindest way. For me, this is a dream .It probably won't happen in my lifetime. But it can in yours, if you are willing to stop arguing about nonsense, find some common ground and then build upon that! I may not be here much longer but you will. You are the ones who will inherit this world. You are young people, strong and with years ahead of you to use to make this world better. It will be all yours. Don't you want it to be a thing worth having? Educate yourselves.Become good speakers. Then start talking sensibly to others. One person. two...a group. Lots of groups. Think....how did the understanding that the unfair lot in life of the common people in old Russia could change for the better, come to be taken seriously to the point that they knew they could really change things? It happened because ordinary people like you educated themselves about this. They read and understood..... and then patiently, kindly and generously gave of themselves, their own time and effort. They talked to those who needed to hear and understand. That can happen again, don't you realise? Right now, even the staunchest and greediest Capitalists are beginning to ..maybe only secretly...question whether this system of theirs is all it's cracked up to be! People are absolutely disgusted as they are beginning to see the ugly naked truth.Throw these sad souls a blanket..help them. Make yourselves into people with integrity and common sense. Learn to speak properly, and begin. The time is now and you are the ones. It's going to be your world. I hope that at least some of you will rise to the occasion. I am with you. | |

| I think you're going to be with us for a long time to come The ideals you have set forth would be nice. I would love utopia. However, personal greed always seems to come into play when one comes into power. Regardless of the system in place, personal greed is *always* there. Very few have been able to step back from it, very few have been able to say "no." You're old enough to know the difference between the work ethics of our generations and the younger ones... They have this sense of entitlement that just goes hand in hand with that personal greed thing. I'm not painting everyone with the same broad brush. There are several in their teens and early 20's that have ambition, but for the most part? Meh, they feel they're "owed" for some very odd reason. I'm not in the same generation you are AKinderWay, but the next one down (still closer than most on here... as we're separated by only a few years (few being less than 10). But, I had instilled in me the work ethic that "you work" not "you're given." I don't know where you're from (I'm tired and if you said, then I've just simply forgotten - I'm also confusing posts ugh), but you surely have experienced the same apathy from gen Y (isn't that what they're calling this one?). I have found that many express their beliefs but do not act on them. When confronted in real life, they shy away from what they say on the net. I don't know about the people on this forum; I know none of them in real life. I do know some things about certain posters on here though that I'd be more than happy to share with you so you'd have a better understanding of some of the hostility. (nothing about you zealot and nothing I'd share in public) As far as wondering who you are: watermelon/melon is a person who has caused a number of problems on here. He proxies (which is illegal in the USA, not sure where forumotion is located, but if it's USA or Canada, they could press charges) to create new accounts on here and further harass. I recently received a private message from him and it made no sense. I forwarded it to Zealot and was told it was melon doing the same thing he always does (in essence after 2-3 messages). So hang in there, keep up what you're doing and people will start to accept you. You have more in common with most of the posters on here (socialism) than I do, but I'm one of the few people I know IRL that really have no problem with people's political views and will debate them or discuss them at length without anger or hatred because of your beliefs. So feel free to message if you're feeling blue or frustrated! But I think once you're accepted, you'll be able to talk at length with many on here concerning a wide variety of subjects Share the joy

But anyways welcome. Man, I do understand, but everyone? Seriously, you're going to run people off especially since they have no idea who melon is. Give people a chance before you guys start with the 1-10 and accusing people of being melon. You might find people are more receptive instead of instantly being on the defensive and thinking you guys are just wacko and inhospitable. Sure, I might be naive when it comes to melon, but treating people like crap to start with doesn't do anyone any favors. You never know, AKinderWay might be the next best thing that's happened to the forum. If not him, then the next person or the next, but you wouldn't know because you'll have run him off Patience will pay off the person, then because the person's a welcome addition to our little slice of the world! (Take this lightly, it isn't meant to be harsh; more a gentle reminder that the way everyone treats newcomers reflects not only on the posters but the site as well - Thank you And yes, I understand the suspicion, but I guess just chill a bit before 15 people start calling the new guys melon- not in the 3rd post at any rate, wait til the 5th or something Also, explaining who melon is while giving the melon-o-meter might be helpful too... would give people a chance to show they're a bit more intelligent and not a jerk that sends private messages and spams the heck out of the forum)

ROFL. This one I don't think is... something about him. But like I said, I'm naive when it comes to melon. What did bother me in his post was him saying not in his lifetime when oh my gosh, he's not that old!!!!! Zealot himself said he didn't think *I* was that old.. and this guy isn't that much older than I am. No, I don't know him from outside the site, but something rings more true than Vladimir (THAT would be more my guess for a melon-o-meter) or the other guy who posted that he was from NY University. Really, who comes on here with 2 posts and wants full access to the site without knowing anyone? At least when I asked, I knew a number of people on here through MSN and AW
