Joining the army doesn't make him a hypocrite. He's got an "easy way out of the toil" by joining the army and we all definitely need a way to substain ourselves economically. What better way to achieve it than by doing something as simple as joining the army in an imperialist nation? It helps you keep fit, gives you a steady financial base, the possibility to travel around the world and may provide you with quite interesting and valuable experiences.

The only way he could be a hypocrite is by pointing his gun while on duty at his comrades. And in all honesty I don't believe he'd do something like that.

Either way, I just wanted to put my unnecesary grain of salt here. This is a topic we shouldn't be really talking about.

He is a hypocrite because he and I planned to protest a recruiter station six months ago, he's a hypocrite because last time recruiters were at our school his girlfriend got mad at him for calling the marines baby killers and he's a hypocrite because he went to a protest against the war a week after signing up... it's only slanderous if it's a lie.

For the purposes that most armies have is that I'm against them. Holding allegiance to an imperialist State and serving as a tool to excert said State's force in order to impose its rule is what I'm against.

I'm not against the individuals who I see as victims of this system.

he can still hold his ideals and serve

also i have to join the IDF soon so i dont think that the army always reflecs the views of the state
