Symbol of American war in Iraq died in depressions

The photo on which Joseph Dwyer is rescuing an Iraqi child during operation "Iraqi Freedom" made him famous.

He died due to medical overdose of pills to suppress hallucinations and other posttramatic disorders

Once he returned back to USA his posttraumatic disorder became apparent. He spent many days hiding in a closet with a knife, was evading imaginary bombs while driving his car.

1 out of 5 American troops serving in Afghanistan or Iraq ends up with such posttraumatic disorders, depressions and hallucinations.

According to a recent survey, 12% of soldiers start using anti-depression and/or sleeping pills already during their service in Iraq.

I hear the numbers are actually higher but American soldiers are reluctant to seek psychological help so they aren't counted.

because to be honest here in America PTSD is barly treated and it is sad. Many Vietnam Vets are still screwed up because of what they have seen and how they were treated when they came home.
