"This is the Kremlin, the center of Russian Communism."

This is how you instantly know that they don't know what they're talking about (for the most part). I think I've seen this before.

EDIT: I just got to the bit about religion. Again, I say LOL.

EDIT AGAIN: LOLOLOL CHINA IS A PART OF THE SOVIET UNION ON THAT MAP.

"Threat to the world" Yeah, kinda was. Stalin was a douche. Coulda been worse. At least he wasn't a CRASY douche. Like Hitler.

"Highest taxes in our nation's history." HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!

Everything until 4:40 sounds about right. I'm not compeltely familiar with Russian hitory, but sounds about right, sure.

"The government writes the textbooks." And that's different from America how? Publishing house get's what to write from government, and government from scientist. Or sometimes a douche off the street CALLING himself a scientist. (Cough)Kent Hovind(Cough)

As for most everything after WWII, um, I take it this guy doesn't know what the Cold War was, huh? YES they were their enemy. But, um, America was RUSSIA'S enemy, too. USed the same tactics, mostly, inciting hatred. Ah, hypocracy, where would we be without you?

And before anyone asks, I have no opinion about the religious references. This was before evolution was normally taught, and jsut around the time of the Stokes trial. (I think that's the name, might be wrong, though. Movie's called "Inherit The Wind", so knock yourself out.) And to say the least religion was a VERY prevalent thing in society. So yeah, no opinion.

Considering that amidst the Civil War Russia was invaded by more than a dozen foreign armies that wanted to take the Bolsheviks out, any military buildup after that by the Bolsheviks was perfectly understandable and the excuse of defense more than valid (from a State perspective). The Spanish civil war, Anticomintern and WWII would simply prove that military buildup pertinent.

Nikolai Lenin? Like John Bush? William Churchill? Jacques De Gaulle?

In Imperial Russia there was already a prominent enough bourgeoisie, I should know considering my grandfather belonged to it (ironically enough it were the cossacks under white army's control that killed his father before his eyes). So the premise that Russia was just a monarchic tyranny is not valid.

The premise that capitalist nations are not tyrannic is as invalid as well.

The Communist Manifesto is one of the most irrelevant pieces of Marxist literature, unfortunately is perhaps the most famous.

Communism wasn't born in Marx's mind. The term was developed by European mid-XIX century working class movements and this term and system greatly matched to Marx and Engel's Scientific Socialism.

As for USSR being a threat? Well of course! It's a new competitor who turned out to be fearsome as hell. As teh state it was it pushed USSR from near 3rd world standards (the least developed power in the world) into one of the two superpowers in, what? 23 years? That's a feat not achieved by a single State or system in this world.

Also, from a geopolitical perspective, USSR and Russia have another tremendous advantage: with proper management, that territory allows autarchy. Who are Russia's real enemies? Western powers. Where do western powers take their power from? 3rd world. What's convenient for Russia? Have the 3rd world raising against the 1st world, the enemy and threat to the Soviet or Russian state. If a State in the position of ruler of Russia/USSR managed to get 3rd world countries to become technologically independent from the 1st world, it'd be literally enough to drain 1st world's power. That's pretty much what USSR's, and if you notice well Putin-Medvedev's, foreign relations worked/work. Examples: Iran and Venezuela. Of course the "free"-market scheme weakens that.

From another, yet more important perspective, USSR had actually managed to become a real socialist stronghold, it would have literally meant the end of Capitalism. Literally. Unless of course Western bourgeoisies manages to destroy it.

So yeah, it was a threat, but not in the sense the video wants to portray it and not to the people this video adresses.

Well, judging from what my Russian teacher told me, they were taught in school that the bible and overall holy scriptures were fairy tales which within their content had some good advices. However, people were not forbid to practice religion. Else, while many churches were demolished to make space for more functional buildings and such, after WWII, many churches were rebuilt.

Either way, whatever that battles ignorance is fine by me and I think you think the same way.
