the flying tea pot

Imagine yourself that there is a flying tea pot between uranus and venus. We cant prove that the tea pot is really there. But whats more important is that we CANNOT prove that there ISNT a tea pot between uranus and venus. Imagine small children would beliefe an this because they are teached since kindergarten by their parents and teachers that there has to be a tea pot. They have to believe it because adults are always SMERT so they cant be wrong. Believe that people who doubt of the existence of the teapot would be harassed, insulted and called lunatics because they doubt on what the majority thinks. The majority is always right because many people cant be wrong at the same time. Imagine people would fight each other and start wars because they have different opinions how the tea pot looks like. wheter its blue or red. its made from metal or clay.

humm it's human psycoagy the assumtion that even tho you think evrybody is wrong 6,7 billion pepole cant all be wrong.
and it's true minoratyes have been isolated and the feared thus hated by the majoraty altho i think a tea pot is a bad exampel.

It's matter of consensus. By consensus we have defined what "red", "blue", "white", "green" and "orange" look like. by consensus, regardless of language, we have a definition of what a chair is. Those are objective realities and no one can really disagree.

In matter of religion is a different issue. It's matter of personal beliefs, lifestyles and traditions fundamented in hard to prove events or beings. The main problem is the impossition of those personal beliefs upon other people, no matter how big the groups are. Besides, with religion specially, we have to take into account the historical, regional and political development of that religion.

What Blackartviper is suggesting is that it's wrong and ridiculous to impose by force or have conflicts over the personal interpretation of something that might exist or not but that really does not have a direct impact over our lives.

Weird, they told me it was a giant turtle between uranus and venus....

I personally don't believe there is a tea pot out there, but unfortunately many billions of people do believe there is one.

Now why can't we prove that there is no Tea Pot? There's telescopes and stuff.

Also the Turtle is not between Uranus and Saturn, but below the world, carrying 4 elephants, who carry the world on their backs. In Australia one should be able to see the turtle back.

Lets say there's a flying teapot just small enough to be not visible to telescopes. You can't prove or disprove that it exists, but no rational person would believe that it exists.

This is a very effective argument against theists.

1) God exists --> good for the person
2) God doesn't exist --> no loss for the person
