A rational person would believe in god because:
1) God exists --> good for the person 2) God doesn't exist --> no loss for the person What god are you refering to? the christian god? Catholic god? Islamic god? What if the person chose wrong? Also, if god doesn't exist, the loss is all of the things you could have been doing and enjoying. Instead, they're not doing them for the fear of going to teapot hell (or teapot purgatory, or whatever). And by the way, this thread has some philosophically deep potential, if some would just take it seriously (or try to understand it better). Liche- Kenzu was using teapot in the stead of 'god'. - Quote :

Appeal to logic I think I think it's more of an appeal to fear.

| Yeah, that. Why would I believe in god if I knew it was fake? That's supposed to be rational? | |

| Bow down to the Flying Spaghetti Monster! You know global warming is caused by the lack of pirates, right? Fewer pirates - global warming. | |

| I thought hurricanes were caused by a lack of pirates. Global warming must be the result of FSM having caught some kind of fever. Disco Fever! | |

| Actually, that's the official stance by followers of FSM. A lack of pirates causes global warming. And it's not the machine gun pirates. It's the real pirates with sailing ships. And don't listen to that propoganda given by the rest of the world about them being mean and stealing. No, they were happy, always breaking into sponteaneous and perfectly coreographed song and dance! | |

| Captain Mosey was the pirate who got the ten I'd really rather you didnts (not commandments), but he lost two of them coming down the mountain so there's now only eight. | |

| gosh I was offline for like 3 months and now my cute little threat has become a real clusterfuck to read XD heres another one... even more logic
25 Million Years ago there was an intergalactic Confederation ruled by the evil space emperor Xenu. There was a major problem of overpopulation at each planet of the confederation. Xenu decided to solve this problem in a violent way. He called all people for an tax inspection and ordered evil psychiatrists to stun those people via frozen alcohol/glycol injections. Then he took all the stunned people with spaceships who just look like DC-6 airplanes (but they have turbines instead of propellers) to earth (which was called Teegeack back then). He dropped all the stunned people at the foot of the hawaian volcanoes and then dropped hydrogen bombs into the craters. The volcanoes errupted and the people werent no longer stunned but death. Their spirits wanted to return back to their homes but evil xenu caught them via energy rays. Then he putted the souls in large cinemas where he brainwashed them with films about christianity and other religious stuff. Then he dismissed the spirits and they were confused and sticked together into clusters. They possessed todays mankind ancestors. and that is the reason for all sorrow and pain of humanity. (Btw... Xenu was catched and is held until today in a energy cell powered by an infinite baterry)

Is that what they actually believe? They looked just like DC-6 airplanes? Or is that just from south park?
