Night attacks?

Don't think this belongs in SPAM, but here it is anway.... When one does a night attack with arrows, not lighting them on fire, using the stealth that comes with night, in a seige, what kind of attack is that called?

Well, Im pretty sure it depends more on other stuff than just the arrows, like the direction your coming from, it could just be a flank attack if theirs a main force,

-arrow guys cavalry/\cavalry -arrow guys
left flank............. main ........ right flank

Oh sure, and the enemy castle does not hear thousands of soldiers marching to the castle? I mean seriously, first off, its more effective to get burning arrows, let the castle houses and inside the walls go on fire, and catapilts can help to. And if your fighting someone, and its very unlikely to have a enemy army attack a castle of the others all of a sudden. So anyways, the castle guys must atleast see it, even in dark, hear movements of thousands of troops marching, since after the arrows I expect they storm the castle, or civilians may warn the guards about thousands of troops coming. Ofcourse a siege can be days, so even if the troops are before the castle, like a more distance, archers can just shoot in night time, yes. Just thought of that.
But a siege doesnt have to be arrows raininng down.

I believe Tyrong means like 50-150 soldiers.

They sort of did this in some war it was the balttle of Wolfe VS some other guy in Canada.

Wolfes troops snuck up the mountain at night while teh French were still asleep.

I didn't think this would be that hard to get....

Unless your goal is a sneak attack with the intention of either following it up wit catapaults, or just hurting the enemie's morale/numbers. Catapaults really aren't that effective with killing people. Same with flaming arrows n the night. You can see them coming. Silent arrows hidden in the night? not so much.

I remember a feature like that in one of my games it was just called "night attack" and then "fire arrows" I am not kidding the game is rome total war.

Yes, but what's happeneing in my work is that the attack comes and someone shouts it out. Right now I have him screaming "Sneakers!" bt t sounds s profoundly wrong, as is being used as only a placeholder. People, please, if anyone knows, or has an idea, help. I need this information.

Even if it does have a name, sneakers is a much cooler name for it.

Sonuds lame to me.But, in lack of anything better, it's what I'll use. I know what a volley of arrows is, I know that a night attack is an attack at night. but traditionally, during a night arrow volley said arrows are lit so the archers can better track their shots. This has athe side effect of letting the enemy see it comming. Not lighting them makes it less accurate, but MUCH more devastating to morale and, initially, manpower. So yeah, sneakers it is.
