Libertarian DOES NOT equal Liberal! Libertarians are extreme conservatives when it comes to matters of economy, taxing, governmental power, etc, but differ in that they don't think there should be governmental restriction on gay marriage, abortion, etc.

No I'm not. Are you crazy? That's the exact opposite of what I'm saying. Libertarian is far right wing. Dems are far left wing, they don't support right's, they support strong government regulation.

Libertarians what very little government control over the economy and very little government control over society. They can be compared to individual anarchists and the left-right spectrum doesn't apply to them.

I guess you're confusing "right" and "left" with intervention from part of the state.

the definition of either varies depending on context unfortunately. For example, many conservatives support large government interference in the matters of religion and homosexual marriage, and many liberals support freedom in those. Ignoring some major examples, I am in essence an anarchist who likes the idea of punishing criminals, and defending the nation. Some define right as "likes the ol' fashioned way" and left as "likes change" and some define right as "never uses the elastic clause" and left as "frequently uses the elastic clause". I side with the latter, and in that essense, I'm right-wing.

The definition of right and wing is predominantly economic. There are authoritarian left systems and liberal ones, the same for right wing.

For example, in USA you got no majour left parties or factions. Both Democrats and Republicans are right wing, the main difference among them is that democrats serve as Liberals and republicans as conservatives.
