This is my theory for possible religious divisions:
1. "Metaphysic thought"/Spiritualism
Axiom: Regardless of creed, ideology, economical, moral and societal convictions, we believe that "higher plans" exist. We believe on things such as soul and/or a superior being that is above physics or science.
2. Materialism
Axiom: Everything is merely a mixture of substances reacting wit each other, everything's ruled by the laws of physics and chemistry and can be understood and manipulated by science. There's no soul nor superior being above physics.
3. Animalism
Axiom: Regardless of origin or thoughs, humanity is simply a species of super-intelligent animals that should follow the "laws of nature". Consciousness, compassion, fraternity and love are examples of weakness in the character of the individual.

Forgive please the simplicism, I have written this somewhat it a haste since I have to go to work, I'll tryto improve it later

These thoughts greatly influde over our own moral codes. For example, people like me who are spiritualist believe that there is something like the soul something that gives us a strong moral code. Someone more materialist, for whom life is just a chain reaction of diferent chemicals can even argue that moral is just a ridiculous product of deficient chemical reactions within the brain and should be avoided if it obstructs some kind of scientific investigation.
