It depends were they live. Where I live the price for a 2 bedroom house is like $425,000, but were one of my best friends is from, he had eight acres of land and a 4 bedroom house that was only $275,000. Over all though, the US (believe it or not) has a fairly good minimum wage, but the said thing is were i live most of the people make either minimum wage or over $100,000 the minimum wage familys don't get nearly enough money...to suport them selves and possibly even others. But this is just in the suburbs of washington DC, like I said earlier the US has an ok minimum wage, but the federal goverment doesn't consider housing prives diffeer from reigon to reigon. The Federal Government should make a minimum-minimum wage, which can be raised by a state govenor. What do you think about that idea?

What do you think about that idea?[/quote ] As far as im aware your minimum wage is $5.85 per hour Ours is €8.65 per hour which = $13.67 per hour - its roughly the same in France and the UK. An employer, by law, must pay the appropriate minimum hourly rate of pay. It is a criminal offence for an employer to pay any employee less. The state gov idea sounds suspicious a govenor may have vested interests. Here nearly everyone in the private sector is a member of SIPTU our main union. They push for reforms in gov and protect workers rights, when anyone has a problem they just contact their local union rep.

thats the understatement of the year. But remember the capitalist need to keep the workers just above absolute poverty for the system to work |

cheap labor means more profits yes it is true minimum wage is bad if you are a very unfair person. if you pai littel for the job you are offering nobody will take it and you are forced to pay more till someone takes it, well this is what happens usally. but some corparations are evil and pay theyer workers very littel and convince them that they can't pay them more. minimum wage puts a threshold on this opression.

| But profit aka surplus value is derived from not paying the workers the full value of their labor. Thus exploitation is necessary. You seem to be thinking of it in terms of pie slices, which is irrelevant. Exploitation is caused by not paying the full value of the labor power. | |

yup and then the owner gets more money than the workers wich is right becuse he built the factory and he has worked to pay for it. this creaates a pyramid but, becuse the rich man is so rich he fules cunsumption creating revenue for othere workeres, so infact he is not just paying his own workers salary but othere rich pepoles too. pic too come soon

Oh. See, I thought it was workers who built things, but now I see that you are right. It's really the bourgeoisie that do. It's all becoming clear now.
