| Well you mentioned an example but certainly did not explain how it works.
But well, I'll be more specific, could you explain the workings of the LHC?

| I learned about it watching "The Elegant Universe". If I remember correctly, particles would going at opposite directions, smashing into one another like: ---> * <---
I don't get exactly what you are asking of me, but when these particles collide, they will "burst" and these "explosions" (for lack of better words) will be examined.
I look at my TV. Light is coming from my TV.

| Well, pretty much the principles that reign said collisions are waht reigned the big bang.
From what you said one would conclude that you consider the Big Bang a Ridiculous theory, however, why would it be ridiculous if most evidence tends to point towards it?

The Big Bang is a ridiculous theory, completely fabricated and as soon as we learn more about the universe, it will be thrown out just like many other theories (e.g. steady state theory).

| I understood after convo with TK, but I still have questions, like where did this come from? Is the universe ever expanding?
I have noticed scientists write a theory, and the look for evidence to back it up. Sure its more than likely possible, but are we sure it happened?

| Where did what come from? The energy? It came from wherever the unicerse came from, which we don't know what that is.
Ever expanding? Yep.
No, what they do is write a hypothesis. There's a difference. Before the evidence, it's hypothesis. After the evidence, and the gaunlet of death that is the peer review process, theory.

| A hypothesis is just that, a hypothesis. All evidence right now may support it, but maybe not soon. | |

| Yiou're right, a hypothesis IS juts a hypothesis. But evolution, the big bang, and all other such are THEORIES. In layman's terms, fact. | |

On that if something is a theory, it doesn't means its true, but it doesnt mean its false either.

| Oh!
Then no, we're not agreeing. Theory is science speak for fact to the layman. Or rather a group of facts brought together to form an explanation. So... fact to the layman. So I guess we're not agreeing.

| Basically "theory" is the whole set of ideas explaining a phenomenon (or phenomena).
A theory may contain laws, for example, the "Theory of Gravity" has the "Law of Universal Gravitation".
"Theory" is not to be confused with "Hypothesis".

| An unproven conjecture; An expectation of what should happen, barring unforeseen circumstances; A statement or set of statements that attempts to explain observed phenomena.
Until its proven, shouldn't you be able to freaking doubt it
"Law of Universal Gravitation" explains how gravity works, but not not what causes it. It explains that particles are attracted to each other, but why/how? Don't forget how the steady state theory was at once true, at least with the knowledge that existed. Don't forget "Kuhn's scientific revolutions."

| You're right Alex. And that's why I don't beleive in the theory of gravity. Or germ theory. or atomic theory. No theory is perfect. That's why they ratify it, update it, and if nesesary, change it or throw it out. However, Alex, every single element that makes up the theories of evolution, atomic, germ, and gravity all point to said theories, and NOTHING says otherwise. Might it change in the future? It's possible. So you can go ahead and not beleive it while reaping all the benifits, and the rest of us will call you stupid. Oh, adn the theories are prooven. ESPECIALLY evolution. Strictly talking numbers, it's probably has been directly observed and repeated MORE TIMES, and with more DETAIL than nearly anything else, gravity included. That's the kind of work scientists have put into it to TRY to appease the scientifically illiterate. - Quote :

Weak and strong nuclear forces. These come from one of the proposed 11 other dimentions, which would certainly explain why gravity is the weakest of all forces, what with it having to reach across dimentions.
