Chavez calls for strategic alliance with Russia

While in Russia, Hugo Chavez has called for a strategic alliance with Russia involving cooperation on energy and military.
Proposals include giving Russia access to the Orinoco Belt, arms deals, and placing Russian troops in Venezuela.

Hmmmm interesting. This could be many things, in my opinion it will lead to reform in Russia, as well as increase the Internationa 'power' of Venezuala.

I think its a good idea, the US wouldn't dare try to invade and overthrow him again with Russian troops in Venezuela.

That's pretty interesting. It's the start of some NATO countering again after the fall of the Warsaw Pact.

I agree, but Russia and the US have been making A LOT of under the table war threats. Mostly about the "global" missle defence system (basically a bunch of missle turrets pointed towards russia).
