- And of course, the intrinsic characteristic of both parties involved has to be ignored right? While USSR and Stalinism were failed attempts at building communism, USSR was a left country and Stalinism is a left-wing doctrine. USSR was a workers' state regardless of the failure of instauration of communism in it.
lolTrot. So, explain how state capitalist USSR was a workers' state? As for Stalin... - Quote :

My impression of Stalin is that the great man theory of history is bullshit, and Marx shall be throughoutly pissed when he learns that today's 'Marxists' use it so often. Presumably during the Second Coming. Anyways. Stalin didn't do what he did because he was somehow 'evil', and people should really cut all of the 'Trotsky vs Stalin' bullcrap and 'if only Lenin hadn't died' crap as well. It's silly. Stalin was acting in accord with the material conditions existing in the USSR, that is, in his own class interests as a member of the USSR's rising capitalist class.

- ou argue USSR had Imperialist intentions yet you fail to fundament your claim neither to apply common sense to it.
Hungary? If we're talking about Stalin's USSR, there are still examples, such as nations behind the 'Iron Curtain', that is, Russia's satellite states. USSR imperialism, unlike most Western imperialism, was based on the need to plunder these countries of commodities to make up shortages at home, rather than on exporting goods. Of course, Russian imperialism was helped along by the West, since it gave them reason to intervene, though, rather than trying to help along 'World Revolution' (like the US spread 'freedom' and 'democracy'), the USSR made it fairly plain that its real reason was more power for the bureacracy. | |
